Literature Text

The black-haired girl laid down... for the final time... In face of her, something... indescribable, almost unreal... Like it had no form, no true identity.

That made it unvanquishable. But...

"I... I don't understand... Why... I had so many failsafe... For... almost every possibilities... Yet... We still lost... How? It's... It's as if something was missing... Something... or someone... should have been there... but they weren't... I don't know... how I can say that... But I'm almost sure of it..."

What she knew, however... was that her defeat signified the end of many worlds. The end of magic. The end of the clans. Just... the end.

Far from there, on the island of Glastonbury, was a tombstone... What was written on it was thought to be a simple superstition... After all, how could it be true? Such a legend... was probably only that, a legend. Yet, three men stood in front of them, with flowers...

One was bringing flamboyant red roses. As flamboyant as his own personality. His eyes were a deep blue, and his hair a platinum blond. He had... something regal about him. Something imperial even. Another had foxgloves... Discreet in appearance, but holding many wonders, fitting the secretive personality of the man. His hair and eyes, pure white, gave him an air of mysteries already well describing that same personality. The last man had more modest flowers... He didn't want to be as elaborate as the other two, and his bouquet was mismatched, as he believed the gift was more important than its nature. Unlike the two other men, his appearance was very commonplace, black hair, brown eyes, and a stance which was much more natural.

"They fought, right? Maybe we should have helped..."

"It's not like it matters anymore. It stopped mattering to us long ago, isn't it?"

"I... still find myself a bit salty not to have participated. But I wouldn't go to war without her, not anymore."

On the gravestone was written... "Here lies Arthur Pendragon, Once and Future King, and Igraine. Mother and son, separated in life, united in death."
